Lord Mayor Graham Quirk is providing Runcorn Heights State School with more than $19,000 under annual grant program, the School Tennis Court Program.
Karawatha Ward Councillor Kim Marx said the funding from the School Tennis Court Program would help make Brisbane more active and healthy.
“Runcorn Heights State School has been given a grant of $19,100 to reconstruct a tennis court, including the removal and re-laying of old asphalt and applying new line marking for tennis,” Cr Marx said.
“This upgrade will also make the court suitable for other uses including netball and basketball.
“Tennis is a great activity for all ages to increase fitness, maintain a healthy weight, increase coordination and have fun.
“The School Tennis Court Program grants are just one of the ways we’re working towards our vision of an active, healthy city.”
There is over $79,000 allocated to the School Tennis Court Grant Program 2012/13 which will support schools across the city in upgrading their tennis facilities.
